Here at Midland Mencap, we are always on the look out for creative opportunities for the individuals we support, as we know that this is something that a lot of people really enjoy.

So when Spectra contacted our Community team about running a series of four creative workshops at the Enterprise Hub, we jumped at the chance! Spectra is a performance project for people with learning disabilities, and it has been developed through a partnership between mac birmingham, Kate DeRight, and Queen Alexandra College.

The sessions focus on having fun and getting to know each other better through movement and theatre. All of the participants have commented on how relaxing they find the sessions and how they have helped to build their self-esteem. Luke described the sessions as ‘good fun’ and Shaun said, ‘It’s really good – it makes me more confident’. The fourth and final session took place on Thursday 12 February 2016 but we are hoping to link up with Spectra again in future. Watch this space! For more information about this or any of our community activities, call the Enterprise Hub on 0121 427 6404.
